Spaghetti Bolognese Sauce Recipe
Today we feature a quick, cheap, and simple recipe for Bolognese sauce.
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 30 minutes
Yield: 4 cups
Ingredients:
- 6 large mushrooms
- 5 garlic cloves
- 2 medium onions
- 2 tsp. ready to use oregano
- 2 tsp. ready to use basil
- 1 lb. ground round
- 1 (15 oz.) can whole tomatoes
- 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 green pepper
- 1 fresh bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp. dried thyme
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- Fresh ground pepper to taste
- Extra virgin olive oil
Instructions:
Begin by peeling and chopping your onion, garlic cloves, mushrooms, and green peppers. Chop to your liking. In a large skillet, heat your Extra Virgin Olive Oil using your stove’s medium-hot setting (5-6 on most stoves). Once olive oil is heated, add your onion, garlic, mushrooms, and green peppers. Fry for five (5) minutes or until onions are clear and garlic takes on a strong odor. Reserve mixture in a bowl for later. In the same skillet, add your 1 lb. ground beef. Break it apart and brown it. Add the fried vegetables to the beef, also adding chopped whole tomatoes, canned tomato sauce, Basil, Oregano, Bay Leaf, Ground Pepper, and Thyme. Mix ingredients, covert, and let simmer for 30 minutes. After thirty (30) minutes are up, your sauce will be ready to serve. We recommend cooking your spaghetti within the last ten (10) minutes, so that both parts of the meal will be ready at the same time.
