Homemade Spaghetti Sauce Recipe
No matter who you are, odds are you like Spaghetti. But what would the spaghetti be without a tasty sauce to go along with it? Today, I am sharing a recipe for spaghetti sauce that is simple enough to please the palettes of your average person – yet delicious enough to make the process of eating it enjoyable.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 30 minutes
Yield: 4 cups
Ingredients:
- 28 oz. can tomato puree
- 18 oz. can tomato paste
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 tsp. balsamic vinegar, red wine vinegar or 1/2 cup red wine
- 1 lg. onion
- 1-2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 tsp. dried oregano or 1 tbsp. freshly minced
- 1 tsp. dried basil or 2 tbsp. freshly minced
Instructions:
To begin, coat the bottom of a large pot with your extra virgin olive oil. Next, cut up the 1 large onion to your liking. Some people like it chopped into large chunks, but I am more partial to thinner, smaller diced onion. Sauté the onion until it turns clear, and then add your garlic. Allow this to cook until the garlic is light in color.
Next we’re going to stir in the tomato puree into the onion mix. You’ll need extra water, so I would recommend filling the tomato puree can with water to make sure you’ve added the right amount. Add the tomato paste, stirring it in with a spoon to make sure everything gets mixed properly and evenly. Add oregano, as well as your vinegar (or wine, if you’d rather).
At this point you must allow sauce to boil, stirring occasionally to ensure an even quality. Cover the pot and cook your sauce on the lowest heat, keeping it as such until you are ready to serve.
It’s just that easy!
If you would like to add to your sauce, there are several small touches you could add in order to mix things up. You could add meat for a more traditional Bolognese sauce, or you could sweeten the spaghetti sauce by adding a pinch of sugar or honey. Experiment with flavors you personally enjoy.

Spaghetti Bolognese Sauce Recipe
Today we feature a quick, cheap, and simple recipe for Bolognese sauce.
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 30 minutes
Yield: 4 cups
Ingredients:
- 6 large mushrooms
- 5 garlic cloves
- 2 medium onions
- 2 tsp. ready to use oregano
- 2 tsp. ready to use basil
- 1 lb. ground round
- 1 (15 oz.) can whole tomatoes
- 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 green pepper
- 1 fresh bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp. dried thyme
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- Fresh ground pepper to taste
- Extra virgin olive oil
Instructions:
Begin by peeling and chopping your onion, garlic cloves, mushrooms, and green peppers. Chop to your liking. In a large skillet, heat your Extra Virgin Olive Oil using your stove’s medium-hot setting (5-6 on most stoves). Once olive oil is heated, add your onion, garlic, mushrooms, and green peppers. Fry for five (5) minutes or until onions are clear and garlic takes on a strong odor. Reserve mixture in a bowl for later. In the same skillet, add your 1 lb. ground beef. Break it apart and brown it. Add the fried vegetables to the beef, also adding chopped whole tomatoes, canned tomato sauce, Basil, Oregano, Bay Leaf, Ground Pepper, and Thyme. Mix ingredients, covert, and let simmer for 30 minutes. After thirty (30) minutes are up, your sauce will be ready to serve. We recommend cooking your spaghetti within the last ten (10) minutes, so that both parts of the meal will be ready at the same time.

Homemade Italian Spaghetti Sauce Recipe
There’s nothing better than indulging in homemade spaghetti sauce like grandma used to make. If you’re tired of eating sauce from the shelf, we’ll teach you a simple homemade spaghetti sauce recipe that is sure to take you back to the good old days.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 30 minutes
Yield: 4 cups
Ingredients:
- 28 oz. can tomato puree
- 18 oz. can tomato paste
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 cup balsamic vinegar, red wine vinegar or 1/2 cup red wine
- 1 lg. onion
- 1-2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 tsp. dried oregano or 1 tbsp. fresh and minced
- 1 tsp. dried basil or 2 tbsp. fresh and minced
Instructions:
Begin by coating the bottom of a large pot with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Cut up your 1 large onion and 3 garlic cloves to your liking. (With this kind of sauce, chunkier is almost always better). Add chopped onion to your large pot, sautéing until clear in color, and then add your garlic. Cook until garlic is light in color. Once that has cooked sufficiently, stir in your 28 oz. can of tomato puree. You’ll likely need extra water so as not to burn the mix, so fill tomato puree can with water, and then add it to the mix. Add the 18 oz. can of tomato paste, stirring it with a spoon. This will ensure an even mixture of ingredients. Add ½ tsp. of dried Basil (or 1 tbsp. of fresh minced Basil), as well as your 2 cups of Balsamic Vinegar/Red Wine Vinegar (or a ½ cup of Red Wine). Allow sauce to boil, making sure to stir occasionally. Cover the pot and cook the sauce on the lowest heat until ready to serve. Once the sauce is ready to be served, sit back and enjoy!
